Building and Empowering a New Black America

There is no shortage of discussions and debates that attempt to effectively engage the enigmatic issues that plague the black community. There are discussions that address the need to practice black group economics, and there are the debates over causation and recourse, but unfortunately, there is very little in the way of proactive engagement. It seems that, for the vast majority of those involved, the discussion of these issues is as far as they are willing to go.

There are several issues that plague the black community that I am personally passionate about — the mis-education of our youth, the destruction of the black family nucleus and the lack of economic empowerment. Fortunately, there is no shortage of data and resources that illuminate a lucid path of elevation and empowerment for blacks; however, this data, and the subsequent strategies that have been developed by using this data, means absolutely nothing without a commitment to direct engagement. In other words, not even the most superior strategy has an impact without the tactical execution of that strategy.

Instead of settling for the opportunity to discuss all of the knowledge that I have gained through my studies and my research, I decided to intensify the work that I was already doing in the community. Below are programs that I am actively involved in, and programs that are in the development process.

Already Active Programs:

  1. Talks My father Never Had with Me (Male Mentoring Program ~ Ages 10-24) This is a program that is desperately needed on multitudinous levels. These young black males are growing up in communities that have a female head of household ratios as high as 95 percent. There is no male presence, meaning that there is no male influence. We are working to change that by directly engaging these men through this program that helps to open up the lines of communication.
  2. Identity Infusion Program (Educational program for inner city youth designed to introduce them to a more powerful and affirmative self-image) This program is a comprehensive co-ed program that is focused on developing a lucid identity for young black youth, by connecting them to their heritage — exposing them to the history of blacks that precedes our captivity. We are using this program to combat the negative images of blacks that are portrayed in mainstream media.
  3. Promising Parents (A program designed to train and equip black parents on conflict resolution in the home, co-parenting, educating their children holistically, and the importance of black group economics & responsible spending.) In the little known world of psychology known as Visionetics, it is revealed that parents are the primary label-givers for their progeny, meaning that parents are the strongest influences of their children’s self-image, self-worth and self-esteem. This program is designed to equip inner city parents to be better label givers and facilitators of the development of a positive identity. We are also working with them to introduce them to the importance of black group economics, and the importance of co-parenting, even when they are no longer together.

Coming Programs

  1. Reverse Propaganda Media Blitz (The focus will be on using propaganda as a tool and weapon to empower blacks and expose the truth, including the use of mobile applications and social sites designed and managed by us, etc.) This program will be a multifaceted dynamic in which every available medium of communication will be used to reconstruct the black psyche and the black self-image.
  2. Co-funding the holistic black educational process on a national level through a network process of home schooling and private education specifically for our people!
  3. The Development of Alternative teaching modalities for black youth that take into consideration the cultural and environmental influences that shape their paradigms.

Direct engagement of the issues that we face as a race of people is essential to creating the momentum necessary to push our way through the existing obstacles that are before us. A number of the wounds that have served to cripple black mobility are self-inflicted, and we must deal with those up close and personal, because it will be the self-inflicted wounds that will derail any attempt at progress. White supremacy has been successful because we have given it power, and we have allowed it to have its way, but the absence of compliance will shift the status of power.

I went to great lengths explaining the dangers of all the manners in which we have caused these self-inflicted wounds in my latest book, The Mis-education of Black Youth in America. In the book I engage education from a holistic perspective, extending beyond the attainment of academic skills. It is my hopes that this book will serve as a catalyst in motivating black people to seek change in every area of their lives.

I am also excited about the work that we are doing in the community. This is the beginning of change, and I can already see the results. There is no easy path to undo four centuries of poor conditioning, but it begins now — one life at a time! ~ Dr. Rick Wallace, Ph.D.

To help support our efforts, we are asking the black community to partner with us by donating to our fundraiser, and for a limited time, anyone who donates any amount, will receive a FREE copy of “The Mis-education of Black Youth in America” as a gift to show our appreciation for your support.
