While you make a valid point concerning the way that release ex-offenders are treated, your animosity is highly misplaced, and your understanding of White privilege is highly nebulous. First of all, I am an ex-offender, so I know well the challenges.
Allow me to give you an example of white privilege. One person gets caught by eyewitnesses raping an unconscious girl behind a dumpster. He tries to run and has to be apprehended. He is found guilty, but the judge says that doing time will negatively impact him and ruin his future — sentences him to 6 months, and he only does three because of good behavior. During the same time, another college student athlete is convicted of raping an unconscious female in his dorm room, and he is sentence to 15 years. Now guess which one is white and which one is black.
Since the aforementioned cases were dispositioned, two more high profile cases have surfaced. One where an 18-year-old raped an 8-year-old boy he was babysitting multiple times. He was sentenced to 30 days. Another molested 5-year old and will receive probation. Black men make up approximately 6 percent of the nation’s population, and commit crimes at about the same rate as white men, who make up nearly 40 percent of this nations population, but black men make up more than 40 percent of the prison population — the majority. I could go on.
As far as my research, it actually comes from credible sources, one being the Department of Justice.
Yes, I agree with you as far as the justice system, but I disagree that ex-offenders are the only oppressed group. In fact, you simply are a part of the White population that got caught up in the trap set for Blacks, you are an unfortunate casualty of war. There is an entire world out here that you have no idea about. As bad as your life is, it is the norm for my people, not yours. It would seem that you would actually understand, but white privilege has even you thinking only about you.
