Clarifying My Stance on Interracial Marriage

I am simply clarifying my stance on interracial marriage. Recently, I posted a video addressing Roland Martin’s ambush of Dr. Umar Johnson on TV One. I specifically focused on one of Dr. Johnson’s statements in which he declared that the greatest commitment to the Black Struggle that a Black man can make is being committed to a Black woman. So that we are clear, I agree with Dr. Johnson 100 percent.

The reason that I recorded this supplemental video is that there seemed to be a question of ambiguity due to the fact that I declared that I don’t run around judging people for who they marry and followed it with my stance on interracial marriage. As usual, there are some people who are always looking for an angle. Most of the time, they have put very little real work in and they rarely are represented on social media by their real names and photos. These social media revolutionaries talk the strong bold talk, but they do it behind a facade — most likely due to the fact that they work for a white-owned company that will not tolerate their rhetoric.

Allow me to be very clear here, if you don’t have your real name and picture on your profile, miss me.

Now on to legitimate concerns. I was respectfully approached by a young brother who wanted to know if I really believed that a Black man who married outside of his race would be limited in his ability to impact the Black struggle, and the answer was, absolutely.

Here is an excerpt of my response:

“Good Afternoon, I will begin my response my elucidating something that is at the core of anything I say or write. I am an empiricist by nature and profession. I have invested over 66,000 hours of research into understanding the enigmatic issues that plague the Black collective, so when I say something it is always an idea or thought produced through the examination of empirical and pragmatic data.

If you have never read The Negro Family: A Call for National Action (More commonly referred to as The Moynihan Report [1965], I would suggest you start there. At the core of the Black enigma is the disintegration of the Black family, and the core of the Black family is the Black marriage. There is a common aphorism that states, it is not what you say, but what you do. The moment a Black man marries a White woman he loses a substantial number of Black women as an audience. If you think I am kidding, there is a new development in which Jesse Williams is divorcing his Black wife and he has just gone public with the already known fact that he is now dating a White actress, Minka Kelly. Check out the rising backlash that has already started coming predominantly from Black women, but also from Black men who consider themselves true warriors of the struggle.

Personally, who you marry is know of my business, but when it comes to stepping on the battlefield, I have been cognizant of the personal and social dynamic, which usually means that a man’s greatest loyalty is to his wife. I agree with Dr. Umar Johnson wholeheartedly when he says that a Black man’s greatest commitment to the struggle is revealed in him becoming committed to a Black woman. You must also examine the psychological dynamic behind why the vast majority of Black men go after White women. You must also take into consideration the fact that while other men marry outside of their race, they don’t deride the women in their race in the process. Black men do this consistently. They feel the need to explain why they chose a White woman when authentic love does not have to be explained.”

Hopefully, this clears up my view on interracial marriage, and if not, here is the video.
