Judge Finally Sets Date In Sandra Bland CaseJudge Finally Sets Date In Sandra Bland Case ~ A trial date has officially been set for January 23, 2017, in the civil lawsuit that was filed by the family of Sandra Bland, against Waller County, Texas. This lawsuit will include the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas State Trooper Brian Encinia, the man responsible for arresting Bland and two other jailers who were in contact with Bland before her mysterious death took place, according to ABC 13 reports.

Bland’s story made national news just days after she was found dead in her jail cell, after being arrested for a traffic violation on July 13th of this year. Police officials claimed that Bland hanged herself, but her family feels that they have reason to argue that the woman they knew and loved would never have committed suicide.Bland’s mother, Geneva Reed-Veal, and other family members, along with several supporters, have gathered together at the federal courthouse in Houston to note their displeasure with the manner that Bland’s case has been handled.

“I’m coming here before you to tell you I’m not OK,” Reed-Veal said, according to ABC 13. “Coming out of this hearing today, I’m not OK. My daughter is gone. I have now celebrated one holiday without her. It is tough. I walked into these doors with continuations, dates, delays. I’m coming out of these doors with continuations, dates and delays.”

Cannon Lambert, the attorney for the Bland family, also added that he doesn’t accept any of the suicide findings because his legal team has yet to see the report from Bland’s death, which is in possession of the Texas Rangers, a division of the Department of Public Safety.

“We’re not even sure that the plastic bag was fingerprinted. And so if the grand jury is supposed to be trying to make a determination on whether or not there should be an indictment, you’d think that the instrument of death would have been fingerprinted,” attorney Cannon Lambert said, according to ABC 13. “We don’t have any evidence to indicate that’s the case.”

Waller County attorneys claim that Bland took her own life after she became despondent that her family was unable to bail her out immediately.

According to mainstream media, the judge still has yet to rule on whether the Department of Public Safety and Encinia can be sued, since state laws claim that they are immune from prosecution.

  1. A few months before leaving us, social activist Sandra Bland recorded a video declaring *”War on Gang-bangers and Thugs”* who she believes have negatively impacted her quality of life as well as harming peaceful people in her community and many American communities.

Essentially Sandra was speaking about our expanding and shameful *National Epidemic of Childhood Abuse and Neglect*, aka, *Poverty*, that for more than two generations has deprived untold numbers of American kids from experiencing a fairly happy American kid childhood with *Safe Streets* to travel and play on.

*Child Abuse and Neglect* that is primarily responsible for our prisons and far too many American communities being populated by depressed, angry, frustrated, undisciplined, unpredictable, sometimes suicidal teens and adults *(NY Times May 18, 2015 – Rise in Suicide by Black Children Surprises Researchers)* full of resentment for irresponsibly being introduced to a life of hardships and struggles.

*Early Childhood Abuse and Neglect* that often leads depressed, sometimes suicidal children to develop into depressed, angry, frustrated, unpredictable teens and adults lacking empathy and compassion for others, though needing to vent their pent up negative emotions, often causing emotional and physical harm to peaceful people…instead of venting their resentment and pain on the immature single moms and/or dads who introduced them to a life of pain and struggle by irresponsibly building a family before acquiring the practical skills, PATIENCE and means to successfully raise and nurture a developing young child who matures into a fairly happy responsible teen and adult.

Did anyone hear or seriously consider Sandra’s passionate plea for peace…or listen to Sandra’s other videos calling for peace and unity?

If Americans sincerely wish to reduce police fear and anxiety that sometimes leads to police misconduct and/or aggression, the question all concerned, compassionate Americans should seriously be asking ourselves, our elected, civil, social, community and religious leaders is, “What real substantial changes in our society’s attitude and laws need to occur to prevent abuse that often causes young kids to mature into depressed, frustrated, angry teens and adults as a result of experiencing the *emotional and/or physical trauma of an abusive childhood?*”

Could the ‘people and community’ harming anti-social behaviors recorded in this video explain why some or many law enforcement officials experience fear, anxiety, emotional pain, frustration and anger?

No doubt some police officers need to do a better job of remaining professional, just as some single-moms need to do a better job of raising and nurturing newborns, infants, toddlers and children who mature into teens and adults respecting their peaceful neighbors.

    Peace.
